Curtis Cole

James Curtis Cole, 83 of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on December 11, 1933 in Pryor, Oklahoma; the son of Shirley Brooks and Ahniwake (Watkins) Cole. Curtis faithfully served in the United States Army from 1955 till 1957. He married Betty Scheetz on October 7, 1955 in Pryor. He worked in retail sales and as a Baptist child care provider for many years. He was a member of the First Church of God and loved attending church activities. Curtis also enjoyed, hunting, fishing and gardening. He looked forward to spending time with those he loved most, and cherished every minute he had to spend with them. Curtis was a delight to be with, loved to laugh and joke around, always positive and lived life to the fullest. He has shared many memories for his family and friends to hold dear to and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 18, 2017 in the First Church of God in Pryor with Reverend Lynn Higgins officiating. Casket bearers will be Allen Simmons, Kenneth Simmons, Darren Cole, Alexandra Cole, Lachelle Cowan, Brandon Cowan, Jeremy Brown and Crystal Brown. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 17, 2017 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Curtis is survived by his wife, Betty Cole of the home; son, William Brooks Cole and wife Sue of Sulphur, Oklahoma; daughter, Brenda Leah Brown and husband Bill of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; brother, John Cole of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; brother, Charles Cole of Sulphur, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and Ahniwake Cole; sister, Mildred Little
