Deloris Cantu

August 23, 1965 — June 13, 2017

Deloris (Detweiler) Cantu, 51, of Chouteau, quietly passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, surrounded by loving friends and family. She was born on August 23, 1965 in Pryor, Oklahoma, the daughter of Robert and Susan (Miller) Detweiler. Deloris attended Mazie Elementary School through 8th grade before graduating from Chouteau High in 1983. On April 12, 1985, as part of a double wedding with her twin sister Doris, Deloris married the love of her life, Jose Cantu, at Zion Mennonite Church north of Pryor. Deloris and Jose were owners of the Del Rio Mexican Restaurant and the Monterey Motel in Chouteau for 30 years. An incredible cook, Deloris was known for her world famous cheese dip and salsa, as well as her delicious cheesecake. As an employer to many of Chouteau's youth, she became an un-official second mom and confidant to many of her staff. An avid Chouteau Wildcats sports fan, if there was a game, she was in the stands. Home or away, Deloris loved to cheer on her Wildcats while wearing her favorite ‘GYHOOYAAP' t-shirt and waving her beloved rally rag in the air to show her support. She also enjoyed watching Thunder Basketball, and OU sports. Deloris was a member of the Parkview Baptist Church in Chouteau and enjoyed being involved in community events. She would often take time out of her busy day to make sure everyone around her was well taken care of. She was kind, loving, giving, adventurous, funny, and a wonderful woman not only to her family, but to her community as well. She leaves behind so many wonderful memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
