Doc Goforth

Edmund "Doc" Goforth, 66, of Pryor, Oklahoma, lost his battle to cancer on Friday, October 19, 2012 at his home. He was born on April 21 1946 in Pryor, Oklahoma, the son of Wayne Mason Goforth and Norma Marie (Hill) Goforth. Doc married Doris Peters on July 23, 1965 in Pryor, OK, making a wonderful life together. Doc retired in 2006 from the Union Pacific Railroad after 42 years of working as a signal maintainer. He and, his son, Troy owned and operated Hudson Lake Hydro Hoist. Doc and Doris also owned and operate the El Royal Mexican Restaurant in Pryor and have done so for over 37 years. Doc especially enjoyed spending time at their home in Cozumel where he could fish, scuba dive, and spend time with family and his many friends at the beach. Doc also loved OU football and girls basketball. Next to his family, they were his favorite thing. He is survived by his wife, Doris of the home; his children, Troy and wife, Leslie Goforth of Pryor, OK, Tracy Wayne Goforth of Pryor, OK, Johnny Lee Dobbins Goforth of Pryor, OK, Kristi and husband, Dwayne Huff of Pryor, OK; five grandchildren, Chelsie and husband Nick , Mason, Kyle, Andi and Dalton; great grandchildren, Raiden and Makenzie; niece, Dedra Goforth and nephew, Kevin Goforth; along with many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Norma Goforth and his brother, Billy Ward Goforth. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, October 25, 2012 in the First Church of God with Reverend Andrew Rehbein officiating. Interment will be in the Graham Memorial Cemetery. The family asks in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Home of Hope(for developmentally disabled adults) , P.O. Box 903, Vinita, Oklahoma, 74301 in his memory.
