Greta Bauer

b. December 18, 2011

Greta Rae (Walker) Bauer, 79, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at her home in Spavinaw, Oklahoma. She was born on March 31, 1932 at Spavinaw, Oklahoma, the daughter of Loyd and Beatrice (Cox) Walker. She was the youngest of 6 children. Traveling to many states with a "construction" family during the years of WWII, her schooling was in Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Nevada and Washington States. She learned as an adult the "construction" was building launching pads for ICBM's. Moving to Lamar, Colorado she met Walter William Bauer. They were married in Denver, Colorado on December 20, 1950 and were married 55 years. On a trip back to Spavinaw, Walter fell in love with Oklahoma and its people and wanted to relocate here moving to Spavinaw in 1960. She pursued her degree in social services and worked in a Tri County Community Action Agency as Head Start Director and later in Mental Health as Case Manager. Greta and Walt had many activities as a twosome, fishing, dancing, boating and traveling in their motor home were just a few. Walter passed away in January of 2006. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, who have made their parents proud. She felt her sons were the greatest accomplishment of her life. Both successful professional men and the grandchildren and great grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend who will be so very missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral Services for Greta will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 10 a.m. in the United Methodist Church in Spavinaw, Oklahoma with Reverend Doyle Carroll officiating.
