Harold Cowan

Harold R. "Pat" Cowan, 84, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2012 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on November 1, 1927 in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, the son of Harold Cowan and Helen (McElroy) Cowan. He was known as "Pat" to everyone. Pat faithfully served his Country in the United States Navy on the New Jersey Battle Wagon. He married Fannie Mae Brown on June 4, 1977 in Pryor, Oklahoma. He was a member of the American Legion. Pat worked for the Pryor Police Department and Lone Star Cement Plant driving a truck for them. He enjoyed listening to George Jones and dancing. He liked sports, boxing, the Dallas Cowboys and the OU Sooners especially. Pat also enjoyed the local teams, like the Salina Wildcats Basketball and Football. Pat enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting, traveling on many hunting trips to Colorado, Kansas and South Dakota. He enjoyed travel and made many bus trips to different parts of the United States and Canada. Pat dearly loved his family. He will be so very missed by all who knew and loved him. Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the Hogan Cemetery with Reverend David Gleason officiating. Casket Bearers are Jason Brown, Jeremy Brown, Derrick Hester, Dustin Hester, J.R. Brown and Bert Gates. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife, Fannie Mae Cowan of the home; daughter, Loretta Gates of San Diego, CA; step-daughter, Janice Hester of Claremore, OK; step-sons, Wayne Brown of Pryor, OK and Bruce Brown of Salina, OK; sisters, Betty Benham of Salina, OK and Wilma Jean Powder of Henryetta, OK; brother, Clayton Cowan of Pryor, OK; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vivian Cowan; daughter, Patty Cowan; son, Richard Cowan; parents, Helen and Harold Cowan; step-father, Wheeler Cagle; brothers, Bill Cowan, Ted Cagle and Joe Cagle; sisters, Pearl Wimer, Rosa May Lutz and Evalyn Johnson.
