Joe Sarasua

Joe Sarasua, 84 of Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2017 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was born on March 27, 1933 in Alsuma, Oklahoma; the son of Gabino and Francis (Surita) Sarasua. Joe faithfully served in the United States Army from 1953 till 1955. He married Imogene Blackburn and they were married for 54 years. He worked for Nelson Electric Manufacturing and retired after 42 years. Joe enjoyed racing and was a crew chief. He looked forward to spending time with those he loved most, and cherished every minute he had to spend with them. He has shared many memories for his family and friends to hold dear to and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma with VA Chaplain officiating. Casket bearers will be Bobby Hagen, Derick Graves, Ethan Chavez, Dalton Mora, Jonathon Anderson and Destry Sellars. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Joe is survived by his wife, Imogene Sarasua of the home; son, Gilbert Mora of Claremore, Oklahoma; daughter, Tonda Grayson and husband Kevin of Pryor, Oklahoma; sisters; Julie Sarasusa of Coweta, Lola Salaba of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brothers, Johnny Sarasusa and wife Mary of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jimmy Sarasusa and wife Virginia of Guthrie, Oklahoma; nephew, John Kelly of Coweta, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Mathina, Nicole, Monica, Toni, David, Dallas, Damara, Cami, Dana and Dalton; great grandchildren, Kailea, Ethan, Abbeygayle, Braiden, Mallory, William and Samuel. He is preceeded in death by his parents, Gabino and Francis Sarasua and sister, Jessie Kelley.
