Lawrence Leroy Hobbs, 75, of Adair, Oklahoma passed away on Monday, June 11, 2012 in Salina, Oklahoma. Lawrence was born on April 1, 1937, the son of Jasper Newton and Bessie Louretta (Smith) Hobbs. He married Ruby Gonzales on October 25, 1953. She preceded him in death on October 25, 1999. He later married Ava Bark on October 7, 2011 in Pensacola, Oklahoma. Lawrence was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pensacola. Lawrence had a great sense of humor and loved to play pranks on the people around him. He loved to fish and work in the garden, he also loved wild animals. He was a steam power train enthusiast. Lawrence enjoyed storytelling and spending time with his family. He leaves many wonderful memories for his family and friends to cherish. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, June 15, 2012 in the Zion Mennonite Church with Carl Helmuth and Ty Epperson officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Mennonite Cemetery with Leroy Hobbs, Allyn Boren, Joe Gilmore, Jon Scheffel, Fred Marshall, and Don Cochran serving as casket bearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, June 14, 2012 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Lawrence is survived by his wife, Ava Hobbs, of the home; 1 son, Leroy and wife Teresa Hobbs of Big Cabin, Oklahoma; 5 daughters, Linda and husband Joe of Big Cabin, Oklahoma, Lorrine and husband Fred Marshall of Heavener, Oklahoma, Lucinda and husband Allyn Boren of Vinita, Oklahoma, Bessie and husband Jonathan Scheffel of Pryor, Oklahoma, and Laura and husband Don Cochran of Gore, Oklahoma; 2 brothers, Roy Hobbs of Adair, Oklahoma and Grover Hobbs of Bluejacket, Oklahoma; 2 sisters, Alma Lyons of Adair, Oklahoma and Velma Bennett of Bluejacket, Oklahoma. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 49 great - grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Hobbs; his daughters, Lena Cude and infant daughter, Rinda Ruby Hobbs; brothers, Leonard, Loyd and Granville Hobbs; sister, Elvie Engles.
