Ronnie Williams

June 22, 1946 — December 29, 2016

Ronnie Williams, 70, of Kenwood, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2016 in Tahlequah. He was born on June 22, 1946 in Hamhurst, Texas; the son of Stanford and Ethel (Townsend) Williams. Ronnie served his country, and retired from the United States Army after many years of faithful service. After retirement from the Military, he went to work for many more years at GRDA. Ronnie had a special place in his heart for children; he brought the CASA (volunteers are appointed by judges to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children) to the area in 2005. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 524 and served as chaplain for the group. Ronnie was a natural people person, he saw the good in any person he met and was always willing to help someone out who was in need. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and being with his friends and family. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy behind, for his friends and family to always remember.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 9, 2017 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Lorne Beck officiating. Ronnie is survived by his sons, Reed Williams and wife Brandi of Norfolk, Virginia and Ryan Williams and wife Heather of Owings, Maryland; daughter, Tamika Sumner and husband Eric of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; brother, James Williams and wife Sue of Arizona; sisters, Jo Keith of Breckenridge, Texas, Barbara Cunningham of Ala Mogordo, New Mexico, and Linda Hoff of Lubbock, Texas; and several nieces and nephews; also many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Clara Hicks and Jenoma Mahurin; and brothers, Jerry Williams, Junis Williams, and Ray Williams.
