Obituary

Zelma Irene Bundy, 89, of Adair passed away Friday, September 28, 2012 in Pryor, Oklahoma. She was born on August 1, 1923, the daughter of Leander L. Horton and Mary Elizabeth (Garrison) Horton. Zelma married Howard James Bundy in Marshall, Arkansas on December 22, 1945. Zelma's first true love was to her God and her family. She was happiest and most content first in the presence of her God, and then her husband and children she also enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She loved to listen to gospel music and was a member of the Lighthouse Church of Tulsa. Zelma was a prayer warrior and always stayed true to her Apostolic faith. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Zelma was a lovely lady and fought a good fight, finished her course and kept the faith. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. Services for Zelma will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 2, 2012 in the Markham Ferry Apostolic Church in Locust Grove, Oklahoma with Reverend John Eaton, Reverend Gary Howard and Reverend Rick Nance officiating. Interment will be in the Hogan Cemetery with her grandsons, David J. Merrill, Ben Hurley, Aaron Bundy, Caleb Gill, Matt Bundy and Trenton Bundy serving as casket bearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 1, 2012 in the Shipman's Funeral Home chapel. Zelma is survived by her husband, Howard James Bundy of the home; 4 sons, Michael James and Annetta Bundy of Locust Grove, OK, Kenneth Duane and Kelly Bundy of Mounds, OK, Richard Leon Bundy of Adair, OK, and Philip Stuart and Kimberly Bundy of Sapulpa, OK; 4 daughters, Patricia Gale and Bob Alberty of Adair, OK, Beverly Irene and David Merrill of Tulsa, OK, Tammy Marie and Daryl Hurley of Mounds, OK, and Valerie Nadine and Larry Gill of Sand Springs, OK; 5 sisters, Alice Joyce McKnight of Marshall, AR, Gladys Marie Eaton of Marshall, AR, Estalee Priscilla Reeves of Marshall, AR, and Denvalee Aquilla Roten of Leslie, AR; 13 grandchildren and 23 great - grandchildren. Zelma is also survived by many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leander and Mary Horton; 2 brothers, Clois Horton and Robert Horton, and 2 sisters, Lois Harness and Alma Jane Smith.
