Albert Wayne Hopper, 82, passed away on August 28, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on April 11, 1944, in Pryor, Oklahoma, the son of John and Cleta (Haley) Hopper. Wayne spent most of his working life as a plant operator for Penurious-NGC while also doing what he loved—farming. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed the simple things in life and took great pride in caring for his land. Whether running his cattle, baling hay, or tending to his garden, Wayne was happiest when he was outdoors and working with his hands. His garden was a particular source of pride, and he enjoyed watching the fruits of his hard work grow each season.

On February 28, 1970, Wayne married Tonda Hopper in Adair, Oklahoma. Together, they shared more than 56 years of marriage and built a life centered around family, faith, and the home they created together. Fishing was one of Wayne's greatest passions, especially when fishing alongside his longtime teammate, Tom. He also loved hunting and rarely passed up an opportunity to spend time outdoors.

Above all else, Wayne loved his family. Time spent with his grandchildren was always important to him, and his great-grandchildren held an especially tender place in his heart. The moments he shared with them brought him tremendous happiness and became some of the greatest joys of his life. Wayne was a member of Greenbrier Free Will Baptist Church, and his faith remained an important part of his life.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Tonda Hopper of the home; his sons, Lang Hopper of Adair, Oklahoma, and Danny Hopper of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; his brother, Rick Hopper and wife Judy of Adair; his sisters, Wanda Gage and husband W.H. of Adair, and Gala Ramsey and husband Johnny of Adair.

He is also survived by his nine grandchildren: Angela Richards and husband J.D. of Adair, Matt Gibson and wife Raegen of Adair, Dustin Hopper and wife Shania of Adair, Lance Hopper and wife Hannah of Kansas, Joey Wells of Pryor, Dylan Hopper of Adair, Beth Kaskie of Tulsa, Abi Hopper of Vinita, and Will Loffer of Tulsa; and his great-grandchildren: Ainsley, Zella, Georgia, Wyatt, Ayden, Asher, Raysen, Leo, Jacob, and Waylon. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cleta Hopper, and his great-grandson, Owen Hopper.

Wayne will be remembered as a hardworking husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who found happiness in family, faith, the outdoors, and a good day’s work. From days spent farming and tending cattle to fishing with his teammate Tom and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow, Wayne built a life filled with the things he loved most. His memory will remain in the stories told, the lessons passed down, and the family he loved so dearly.
