Athalee Burkett

Athalee Burkett, 92, of Chouteau, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at her home. She was born on April 25, 1928 in Jenks, Oklahoma. Athalee married Robert A. Burkett in 1972 and they have celebrated 48 wonderful years together. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, working outside, and going fishing. She also loved to collect ceramic dolls and had a special love in her heart for her dogs. Athalee loved her Lord and attended the Four Corners Church and also the Chouteau First Assembly of God. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend who leaves behind many memories for her family and friends to cherish.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 28, 2020 in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Hogan Cemetery in Locust Grove with Andy Harmon, Norman Anderson, Jr., Danny Skipper, Justin Harmon, Dusty Harmon, and Erick Anderson serving as casket bearers. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Shipman’s Funeral Home in Pryor. Athalee is survived by her husband, Robert A. Burkett of the home; sons, Norman Anderson and wife Becky of Chouteau, Oklahoma, Rickey Anderson of Peggs, and Allen Burkett of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; daughters, Linda Gunter of Missouri and Joyce Lennon of Chouteau, Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, son, James Anderson, 6 siblings, daughter, Vesta Brown; and great granddaughter, Caitlin Skipper.
