Barry James Elam, born on October 24, 1962, in Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away on March 3, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He will be remembered for his vibrant spirit and love for life.
Barry had a passion for motocross and cherished the time spent outdoors, particularly enjoying camping at Roaring River and relaxing on his porch swing. He was a devoted fan of OU football and eagerly anticipated watching games each season. His enthusiasm extended to riding jet skis with his wife and attending Rocklahoma, where he found joy in the music he loved. In his earlier years, he excelled in track where he still holds two records. He enjoyed watching Pryor football and track.
A true animal lover, Barry fostered many pets throughout his life, demonstrating his kindness and compassion. His faithful companion, Jack, was a constant presence by his side. Above all, Barry loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren, and took great pride in being a loving Papa.
Barry is survived by his wife, Shannon Elam, of the home; sons, Andrew Elam of OKC, OK, and Derick Nunn and wife Marin of Broken Arrow, OK; daughters, Tiffany Elam of OKC, OK, Chelsea Reid and husband Blake of OKC, OK, Victoria Parks of Pryor, OK, Michelle Nunn of Coweta, OK, and Maddison Shofner and husband Triston of Branson, MO; brothers, Scott Elam and wife Sandra of Pryor, OK, and Steve Elam and wife Paula; his beloved grandchildren, Jackson Parks, Nathan Parks, Claire Honeycutt, Cameron Elam, Lottie Parks, Madelyn Nunn, Lakyn Shofner, Gwen Nunn, Hagen Nunn, Caroline Parks, Ozzy Nunn, and Indie Shofner; and best friends, Mike Wallace and Joe Willard.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Niva (Pritchett) Elam, and his uncle, J.W. Elam. He also looked forward to being welcomed by several unborn grandchildren who have gone before him.
Barry recently gave his life to the Lord as his personal savior, bringing comfort to his family during this difficult time. He leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
