Benjamin James Cox, born on October 12, 1943, in Waldron, Arkansas, passed away on August 24, 2025, in Claremore, Oklahoma. A proud veteran, he served with honor in the United States Navy, a chapter of his life that shaped his character and instilled in him values of dedication and service. He moved to Pryor in 1988 to work at Lone Star Cement Plant where he was an Electrical Engineer until his retirement.

Ben was not only a committed serviceman but also an individual who found immense joy in community and creativity. He held the esteemed position of state governor in the Toastmasters, where he nurtured his love for public speaking and personal growth. His membership at the Pryor Methodist Church reflected his dedication to faith and fellowship within his community.

Beyond his professional and civic engagements, Benjamin had a rich tapestry of hobbies and interests. He was a passionate writer, sharing his thoughts and feelings through poetry. He also enjoyed running and playing his guitar.

He is survived by his lifelong partner, Betty Cox, with whom he shared over 30 years. His legacy continues through his daughters, Shirley Cox, Amy Wilson, and Christy Robinson; stepsons, Darrin Dougherty and Jim Marshall, Jr.; brother, Joe Cox; and sisters, Clara and Pearly. He was a cherished grandfather to Kiah, Bailee, Bubbe, Dylan, Chloe, Nicolas, Bentley, Sophie, Ross, Ashley, Elizabeth, and Kobi, and a proud great-grandfather to Righleigh, Nolan, Kyson, Kaiden, Kannon, Sage, Lily, and Everett.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Arlen and Nora (Yandell) Cox; stepdaughter, Diana Fulton; brothers, Robert and Donny; and sister, Dorothy.

Funeral services for Ben will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Shipman's Funeral Home with Pastor Kris Mayberry officiating.
