Billy Burl Braden, 82, of Salina, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at his home. He was born on February 24, 1938 in Chickasha, Oklahoma; the son of William and Mildred (Smith) Braden. Billy married the love of his life, Diana, on June 26, 1958 in Corpus Christi, Texas and have celebrated almost 62 years of marriage. Together they had 5 children: Ricky, Tully, Cyndi, Shelley, and Brenda. Billy faithfully served our country in the United States Navy on the Aircraft Carrier USS Wasp. He also was a chaplain for the DAV Chapter 43 of Pryor, Oklahoma and was passionate about the chapter. Billy also loved to garden and raise chickens that were almost extinct. His dogs were special to him, especially his hound dog, Pearlie Mae. Billy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services for Billy will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 18, 2020 in the Salina First Baptist Church with Cynthia Edwards officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at Shipman’s Funeral & Cremation Service. Billy is survived by his wife, Diana of the home; sons, Ricky Braden and wife Lawanna of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Tully Braden and wife Tina of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; daughters, Cyndi Edwards and husband Robin of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Shelley Freeman of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and Brenda Garza and husband Jorge of Victoria, Texas; brother, Woody Braden; sister, Mary Frances Stoltz and husband Jim of Springdale, Arkansas; 16 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Mildred; grandson, Jeremy Braden; and great grandson, Hayden Allen Adams.
