Carl was born October 3, 1939, in Pryor, Oklahoma to Bud and Opal Henson and spent most of his childhood in Strang, Oklahoma. He graduated from Strang High School in 1957. He married Emilene Fuller in 1970. After graduating from Strang High School in 1957, he joined the Air Force and spent his overseas time in Tripoli, North Africa. After four years in the Air Force, he signed up for the National Guard and was activated for another year. He worked in a baker, on the oil field, as a service station attendant before selling life insurance, real estate, and answering the call to church ministry. Although he had grown up in the Methodist Church, he didn't become a Christian until he was 21 years of age. While reading his Bible at home he realized he was not a Christian. He knelt down and prayed a simple prayer and invited the Lord into his heart. In January 1970, he surrendered his life to God's call to preach, and life became one big adventure for the rest of his life - many miraculous events followed. His first church was in Oologah, Oklahoma in 1970, and then served for a year in 1970-71 as pastor of the Parkview Church of Nazarene in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He realized he needed further education, and in 1971 he enrolled in the Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs. After graduation in 1974 from the Bible College with an Associate's Degree in Ministry, he accepted the team pastorate of Delta Church of the Nazarene in Stockton, California along with Russ Powell and Wayne Folmer. His next pastorate was Woodland Park Church of the Nazarene in Colorado beginning in 1976. He served there for 13 years. Then he assisted in the New Hope church ministry in Colorado Springs for a year before becoming the Nazarene pastor in Chadron, Nebraska in 1989. In 1995, he assumed the pastorate at South Georgia Church of the Nazarene in Amarillo, Texas. In 1997, after 25 years in the ministry, he moved to Colorado Springs and became a real estate agent. For 13 years, he and Emilene traveled to Kiowa, Colorado Church of the Nazarene to assist and directed the congregational music. While in Nazarene Bible College in 1971-74, they had attended the Kiowa Church and until he graduated and moved to California, he shared the pulpit with another student, Harold Stratton. His wife, Emilene, had several major medical problems, and in 2010 they decided to attend a church closer to home. After attending for a few years at Roswell Community Church, he was chosen to direct the congregational music. In 2017, he felt led to attend a different church, Faith Covenant Bible Chapel, a Church of God Holiness. While in California, he attended Simpson College and was awarded a Bachelor's degree in Ministry. While serving in Woodland Park and Chadron, Nebraska, he completed a Master's degree in Ministry from Northwest Nazarene College. His love of flying led him to obtain a private pilot's license while living in Chadron, Nebraska and he also received his Instrument Rating while living in Amarillo, Texas he owned two airplanes through the years, but when he realized that it was no longer feasible to fly, the planes were sold. His great love of hunting, fishing and traveling was very evident. He enjoyed traveling to little-known places taking back roads to small towns where he really enjoyed visiting museums and historical places such as old forts. He also had a great interest in children and youth and took many of them on campouts and skiing trips while serving in the ministry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Opal Henson, brothers Don and Bob. Carl had one thing to tell you: READ YOUR BIBLE!! READ YOUR BIBLE FROM GENESIS TO REVELATION!!!
