Celene Marie (McCoy) Windle, born on October 12, 1934, in Taos, New Mexico, to George W and Emma Marie Sais McCoy, died on Friday, April 17, 2026, in Pryor, Oklahoma.
A member of the St Mark Catholic Church, a devoted Catholic, Celene volunteered many years as religious instructor and eucharistic minister and was a member of the Knights and Ladies of the Holy Sepulchre. She lived an active and independent life, traveling and participating in many ways to help others. Her acts of kindness extended beyond family and friends. She sponsored a young boy in Guatemala many times, as well as other countries, but Guatemala remained a special place to her.
Celene, a loving, stylish, creative woman was devoted to the care of animals, especially her loyal dogs. She assister her daughter, Janea in a cattle operation and considered living a rural life a great blessing. She was an artist in many ways and her love for pottery took her back to her native origin, New Mexico. She shared both her passion for pottery, as well as her creations with others and for the benefit of St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Her career included employment at the city drug store, Pryor Jeffersonian, Mayes County Election Board, Board of County Commissioners, and Mayes County Treasurer. Following her retirement, she volunteered in the formation of the Rogers County Adult Care and later was employed part time at the Rogers County Health Department with the Rogers County Senior Companion Program.
She is survived by her children, John Martin Hogan, Diann Stapleton, and Janea Hogan; and her grandson, Dodge Martin Hogan, the joy of her life. She is also survived by her sister, Margo Propst and husband Bill; brothers, Tom McCoy and wife Virginia, and George McCoy and wife Gerda; three nieces; and seven nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Emma McCoy; daughter, Dana Bennetch; and sister, Zoe Ann.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2026, in the St Mark Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Graham Memorial Cemetery in Pryor. A rosary service will take place at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at St Mark Catholic Church. To leave a message, please visit her guestbook at www.shipmansfuneralhome.com.
