Charles William Flood

Charles William Flood, 96, of Inola, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in Salina, Oklahoma. He was born on January 1, 1930, in Viola, Arkansas, to Evert and Augustas (Mossier) Flood.

On June 25, 1949, Charles married Judith in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They shared many wonderful years together until her passing.

Charles lived a full and independent life and had many interests throughout the years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and especially aviation. Charles loved flying planes and was known to take to the skies even though he never held a pilot's license. He also enjoyed sharing stories from his many adventures, particularly his tales of "pond hopping." His willingness to serve others was evident through his time as a volunteer firefighter and his involvement with Life Flight.

Charles was a natural storyteller and enjoyed visiting and sharing memories with those around him. He remained remarkably independent throughout his life, living on his own and continuing to drive at the age of 96. He also appreciated life's simple pleasures, including a good bowl of chili. One of his favorites was the Chili 3-Way from Ike's Chili.

Charles is survived by his children, Charles Edward Flood and wife Susie of Salina, Oklahoma, and Dawnna Bettgee; sister, Gail Dunkin; grandchildren, John Heap, Wendy Higgs, Donald England, Judy England, Dawnna Jo Hause, James Box, Cory Box, Terri Wheaton, Charles Flood II, Johanna Self, and William Flood; 34 great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Evert and Augustas Flood; his beloved wife, Judith Flood; daughter, Christy Heap; and sister, Verdale Stokes.

Charles will be remembered for his independence, adventurous spirit, colorful stories, and the many experiences he shared throughout his 96 years of life. His memory will remain with the family and friends who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Blue Springs Church with Reverend Lorne Beck officiating.
