Christine Marie Nielsen, 72, of Pryor, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was born on March 28, 1949 in Colusa, California. She traveled and lived in Europe, Asia, and all across the United States while her father was stationed at various bases. She married Richard Nielsen in Birkenfeld, Germany on February 25, 1970 and they have celebrated 51 wonderful years together. Christine worked for many years as a Teachers’ Aide last working for Calvary Christian Center. She has lived in the Pryor area for the last 3 years, coming from Olivehurst, California. She and Richard resided for over 43 years in Yuba and Sutter Counties, California. She was active in her community and enjoyed her volunteer work for the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Booster Clubs. Christine enjoyed cooking, dancing, traveling, reading and horseback riding. She learned criminal law as a hobby and enjoyed her work with children. She also volunteered and substituted between many schools and churches. Christine loved children and often referred to herself as a kid at heart.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 14, 2021 in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. Christine is survived by her sons, Edward Nielsen of Odessa, Texas and Michael Nielsen of Yuba City, California; daughter, Tammy Jones and husband Daniel of Pryor, Oklahoma; brothers, Eddie Hensley of Marysville, California and Al Bruggman of California; sisters, Linda Battaglia of Woodland, California, Marlene Hensley of Yuba City, California; and Cheryl Canning of Reedsport, Oregon; 5 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Daryl Bruggman, mother, Frances Hensley and step father, Doyle Hensley.
