Clyde Council

September 24, 1939 — January 15, 2019

Clyde Douglas Council, 79, of Claremore, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at his home. He was born on September 24, 1939 in Hart, Oklahoma; the son of Karl Douglas and Gladys Cleo (Hoover) Council. He married Peggy Lee Davis on August 28, 1959, who preceded him in death on August 19, 2016. In the late 1970’s, they started Clyde’s Auto Body in Arvada, Colorado and worked there for most of his life. Clyde enjoyed horses, horse shows, and raising his horses. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. Clyde later met Dorene Marie. While they spent only a short time together, their love for each other was profound. He was a loving grandfather and cherished each moment he had to spend with his family. He leaves a wonderful legacy behind for his family and friends to remember.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 21, 2019 in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kendrick Oakley officiating. Clyde is survived by his son, Patrick Council and Mitch Galper of West Hollywood, California; daughter, Robin Self of Claremore, Oklahoma; brother, Karl Ray Council and wife Mary of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Johna Jones and husband Frank of Claremore, Oklahoma, April Murphy and husband Dontre’ of Claremore, Oklahoma, Hailey Galper of Seattle, Washington, Matthew Galper of Los Angeles, California, Christian Self of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Daniele Self of Claremore, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Jayde Council of Claremore, Oklahoma, Erika Williams of Claremore, Oklahoma, Kayson Council of Claremore, Oklahoma, Maddox Jones of Bristow, Oklahoma, Aryana Murphy of Claremore, Oklahoma, and Andre’ Murphy of Claremore, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Gladys Council, and wife, Peggy (Davis) Council.
