Darrell Roberts, 76, of Adair, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at his home in Adair. He was born on April 7, 1950, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to J.C. Roberts and Anita (Hanes) Roberts. Darrell was a hardworking man whose life was defined by dedication, craftsmanship, service, and a deep love for his family and the simple joys of life. A rancher and carpenter for most of his life, he spent more than 15 years with Williams Construction, where he took great pride in building homes. His greatest project was the home he personally built for himself and Sharon, a place filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Darrell honorably served his country and attained the rank of Sergeant (E-5). The values of discipline, integrity, and perseverance that he learned during his military service remained with him throughout his life. Darrell had a lifelong passion for horses and could often be found attending livestock sales and rodeos. He loved history and was an active member of the Friends of the Murrell Home, where he looked forward to annual trips exploring historical sites. Whether traveling across the country or enjoying a weekend adventure, he embraced every opportunity to see something new. One of his most treasured recent memories was taking a vacation to Yellowstone with Sharon and Jackson.
In the kitchen, Darrell was equally at home. He loved cooking and baking for those he cared about, always eager to share a meal or a favorite recipe. He was also well known for his quick wit, playful personality, and love of teasing family and friends. His sense of humor brought smiles to countless people throughout his life. Darrell graduated from Sequoyah High School with the Class of 1968. In his younger years, he attended the Assembly of God Church in Claremore, the church founded by his grandfather. On Valentine's Day, February 14, 1988, he began dating Sharon Chidester, and together they shared many wonderful years filled with love, travel, and companionship.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Sharon, son, Kelly Shive and wife Samantha of Chouteau, Oklahoma; daughters, Tracey Roberts of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Tara Roberts of Claremore, Oklahoma; sisters, LaVon Lower and husband Clyde of Claremore, Oklahoma, Bettie Fuller of Owasso, Oklahoma, Sue Trickey of Claremore, Oklahoma, and Sandra Kissler and husband Leroy of Claremore, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends who will forever cherish his memory.
