David Howell, 69, of Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away on June 11, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
David was born on July 27, 1955, in Cocoa Beach, Florida, to Veryl and Elaine Howell. They later moved to Angleton, Texas, where he graduated in 1974 from Angleton High School. On June 28, 1975, he married the love of his life, Kathy Rogers. This month would have marked their 50th wedding anniversary—just two weeks shy of a Golden Anniversary. In 1979, David and Kathy moved to Pryor, Oklahoma, where they built a life and raised their daughter, Katy.
A dedicated and hardworking man, David worked as a warehouse foreman at Midwest Carbide in Pryor from 1980 until its closure in 2014. He then continued his career with Mayfield Construction until his retirement in 2018.
David was known for his love of the outdoors. Whether he was fishing, hunting, gardening, working with leather, or creating with wood, he found joy in his hands-on hobbies. Above all, David was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was reliable, down-to-earth, and always ready to lend a hand to those in need.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Kathy Howell of Pryor; daughter Katy Moore and her husband Robert Moore; and beloved grandson Ryder David Moore, all of Pryor. He is also survived by his sister Cheryl Greene and husband Russell of Emory, Texas; his brother Patrick Howell and wife Jessica of Nacogdoches, Texas; brothers-in-law Rothey Rogers and wife Linda of Surprise, Arizona, and Raymond Rogers and wife Lisa of Corsicana, Texas; along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Among them, special family friends Penny and Abdi Mirsepassi of Pryor held a cherished place in his heart.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Veryl and Elaine Howell of Nacogdoches, Texas, and his in-laws, J.W. and Katy Rogers of Angleton, Texas.
He will be deeply missed and remembered for his loyalty, kindness, the love he shared with everyone around him, and the laughter he brought to their lives.
