David McKenzie

David Roy McKenzie, 71, of Pawhuska (formerly of Adair) passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2019 in Bartlesville. He was born on November 23, 1948 in Fayetteville, Arkansas; the son of Lennox and Cordie (Maslen) McKenzie. David worked in the maintenance department for AP Green for many years. David’s favorite pastime was teaching about Jesus and to minister to everyone he could. He also loved to go fishing and to smoke meat. He attended Pleasant View Baptist Church and also helped with revivals and church camps at The Cowboy Church in Inola. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 30, 2019 in the Pleasant View Baptist Church with Reverend Jerold Pilant officiating. Burial will follow in the Lone Chapel Cemetery with Mike Dunham, Tommy Maslen, Trevin Helmuth, Jeffrey Helmuth, Tim Smith, and Joe Hoffman serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be David’s grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 29, 2019 at Shipman’s Funeral Home. David is survived by his son, Shane McKenzie and wife Mandy of Adair, Oklahoma; daughters, Georgiana Myers and husband Mark of Barnsdall, Oklahoma and Amy Welch of Adair, Oklahoma; brother, Elmer “Sonny” McKenzie and wife Chrystene of Sprindale, Arkansas; 5 grandchildren, Mark Myers III, Nicolas Welch, Cole McKenzie, Ceirra Welch, and Seth Myers; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lennox and Cordie Mae McKenzie; wife, Sondra McKenzie; and 2 sisters, Louella Marlin and Patricia Smith.
