David Mark Whisman passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026, in Vinita, Oklahoma. He was born on October 27, 1963, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Marion (Wayne) and Sadie (Patterson) Whisman.
From a young age, David knew he wanted to drive a truck. After graduating from high school, he began driving semis, beginning a career that would span many years. David was a hardworking man and was currently driving for Walmart. Throughout his life, he worked hard and made many sacrifices to provide for his children and family. Taking care of those he loved was always important to him.
David was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed cheering on the Oklahoma Sooners football team and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Some of his favorite moments were spent talking sports with his grandson, Ellis.
He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, Rosa. Together, they shared many adventures and made special memories along the way. One of David’s favorite places to visit close to home was Broken Bow, where he enjoyed relaxing and staying in the cabins.
David loved to cook, especially smoking meats for family and friends. Ribs and brisket were his specialties, and he often shared the food he prepared with others as his way of showing love and appreciation.
David was a believer in God and a member of Coo-Y-Yah Baptist Church. His faith was an important part of his life.
David was preceded in death by his father, Marion (Wayne) Whisman.
He is survived by his wife, Rosa Whisman of the home; daughters, Sarah Whisman of Stroud, Oklahoma, and Emily Gnehm and husband Samuel of Tryon, Oklahoma; mother, Sadie Whisman of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; stepchildren, Allison Roy of Wewoka, Oklahoma, Rickey Mauk of Pryor, Oklahoma, and Anthony Mauk and Sean Millican, both of Edmond, Oklahoma; sisters, Marian Whisman of League City, Texas, and Susan Gann of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and grandchildren, Ellis, Rhiannon, Madison, Kylee, Brody, Amelia, McKenzie, Ashlynn, Elaina, Alex, and Noella.
David will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of sports and travel, his faith in God, and the many ways he showed his love for his family and those around him.
The family will hold a memorial service honoring David's life at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Coo-Y-Yah Baptist Church in Pryor.
