Donald Roy Murphy, 87, passed away on Tuesday, August 27th, 2024, in Tulsa, OK, surrounded by love. Don was a long time Pryor resident. He is survived by his companion, Jane Ann Jones of Claremore, daughters Kimm and Kelli Murphy of Tulsa, son Steve Lane and wife Lori of Claremore, and daughter Shelly Marlin and husband Wade of Pryor. Don had 8 grandchildren, Jennifer Blair, Stevanna Locke, Jordan Webb, Payton Lane, Jake Marlin, Johna Robb, Josh Marlin and Adam Marlin. He was blessed with 17 great grandchildren.
Don was a graduate of Muskogee High School class of 1955 and remained active with his class-mate reunions. They liked to meet every month for brunch. In December of 1955, he married Mary Brown and had two children, Kelli Murphy and Kimm Murphy. He held a mechanical journeyman license and had worked as a sheet metal fabricator for many years. He retired from Industrial Maintenance Inc. at the age of 85. He enjoyed working and being active in the industry. Don served in the Army National Guards.
Don married June Hamm in November of 1972 and became a widower in March of 2015 when she passed away. He was lucky to find love again with Jane Ann Jones. They had a wonderful 8 years together and he treasured her and her family. Don enjoyed nothing more than spending time with family and friends. His hobbies included watching Nascar, sports, cooking programs, and the PBR. He loved horses, old tractors, craft fairs, antiquing, reading westerns, and playing computer games. Don was a great cook. He and June owned Murphy's Barbecue in the late 1980's and continued to make his barbecue sauce to give out as gifts.
Don attended Claremore First Methodist Church in Claremore, OK. Don was a freemason with the Masonic Order. Don was preceded in death by his wife, June Murphy, parents Roy and Jerry Murphy and brother Tommy Murphy of Muskogee Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Shipman’s Funeral Home in Pryor with Reverend Jaimie Willis officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Shipman’s Funeral & Cremation Service. Burial will follow in the Graham Memorial Cemetery.
