Dora Lee Karnes, born on August 9, 1957, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 66. She was a dedicated individual whose career spanned over four decades, primarily serving with the Army Corp of Engineers before retiring in 2020. Dora's professional journey led her to Afghanistan twice as an inspector, showcasing her commitment and passion for her work. After retirement, she found joy in working at Mazzios and XPO.

Apart from her illustrious career, Dora had a wide range of interests and hobbies that brought her immense pleasure. She had a fondness for visiting casinos, playing cards, exploring flea markets, caring for her beloved pets, and nurturing her flower beds.

Dora's proudest accomplishments included her marriage to Robert in 1993 and the years of love and partnership they shared. She also dedicated herself to humanitarian efforts by volunteering in Jamaica following a hurricane and later in Louisiana after hurricane Rita.

She leaves behind a legacy cherished by many. Dora is survived by her loving husband, Robert Karnes of the home; daughters, Charon Allen and husband Mark of Okmulgee, OK, and Shannon Leon of Locust Grove, OK; stepdaughter, Leisa Karnes of Muskogee, OK; stepson, Russell Karnes; sisters, Martha Jordan of Midland, TX, twin, Mary Cupp and husband Bill of Locust Grove, OK; grandchildren, Joseph Shoemake and Michelle, Robert, Sarah, Jake, Hannah, and Mason; great-grandchildren, Gracie , Evelyn , Hunter , Kourtnie; nephew, Will Martin and Kimmie of Muskogee, OK; along with her dearest friend Becky Martin from Locust Grove, OK. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Everett and Dorine Fain; grandmother, Dora Barron; brother, Everett "Sonny" Fain; and grandson, Elijah Macias.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor. To leave her family a message, please visit her guest book at www.shipmansfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Shipman's Funeral & Cremation Service of Pryor.
