Doris Rae Turner, 79, of Pryor, Oklahoma, left us for her heavenly home from Tulsa, Oklahoma after a short hospital stay. She was born on September 29, 1933 in Decatur, Arkansas, the daughter of Tom and Alice Wells. She soon moved from Arkansas to Pryor, Oklahoma where Doris lived in the Pryor and Boatman areas her entire life. She married Fred Turner on November 17, 1951. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Salina, Oklahoma for over 40 years. Doris loved to serve her Lord and was always willing to help in any way she could. She served in the church kitchen committee for many years. She was very proud to be called a Christian. Her favorite things in life were her family, church family and her many friends. She loved her home and all the animals on the farm that came by to see her. She served on the Mayes County Election Board and the Bryan Chapel Cemetery Board for many years. She will be so very missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Salina with Reverend Kennith Stacy officiating. Interment will follow in the Bryan Chapel Cemetery with Eric Hunter, Ekewaka Turner, William Turner, Bob Seins, Floyd Kingfisher, David Willhoite serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Brad Giles, Gary Benge, Jeremy Giles, Ken Hanna, Isacc Livingood and David Turner. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday evening. She is survived by two children, Jeff Turner and wife, Summer of Boatman, OK and Brenda Hunter and husband Robert (Bob) of Springdale, AR; eight grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; sisters, Salley Ruskoski, Tommie Jo Hyde, Donna Erickson; brothers, Jim Wells and Steve Wells; numerous nieces and nephews and many many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Alice Wells; husband, Fred Turner, one son, Freddie Wayne Turner; one brother, Billy Michael Wells; one sister, Angie Pollock.
