Fannie Mae “Sug” Cowan, 89, of Salina, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2019 in Salina. She was born on January 7, 1930 in Adair, Oklahoma; the daughter of Hugh and Lula (Landrum) Carman. Fannie was a lifelong resident of Mayes County. She earned her Master’s Degree in Education and worked as a school teacher most of her life in the Salina Public School District. She married Harold “Pat” Cowan on June 4, 1977 in Pryor. Fannie Mae was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who leaves behind many wonderful memories for her family and friends to cherish.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 27, 2019 in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel with Henry Thompson officiating. Fannie Mae is survived by her sons, Bruce Brown and wife Jean of Salina, Oklahoma and Wayne Brown and wife Margaret of Boatman, Oklahoma; daughter, Janice Hester and husband Ray of Claremore, Oklahoma; step daughter, Loretta Gates of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; step mother, Elizabeth Carman of Colcord, Oklahoma; sister, Katherine Jacks of Marianna, Arkansas; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren; special friends, Sherilyn Ingram, Vicki Scott, Jean Sibley, Sandy Pryor, and special cousin, Helen Satterfield.
