Florence Wanda Taft, 84, of Chouteau, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at her home. She was born on April 2, 1937, in Chouteau, Oklahoma; the daughter of John W. and Ruby (Briggs) Davis. Florence worked as a homemaker all her life, tending to the house and children. She was a social butterfly and loved to visit and would strike up a conversation with anyone. She was a Christian woman, who loved her Lord and Donald Trump. Florence looked forward to traveling and seeing new sights, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 26, 2021, in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jerold Pilant officiating. Burial will follow in the Chouteau West Cemetery with Matthew Mattison, Nicholas Mattison, Joseph Mattison, and Thomas Underhill serving as casket bearers. Florence is survived by her daughters, Shirley Gibbs of Chouteau, Oklahoma, Phyllis Underhill of Pryor, Oklahoma, and Tammy Wilson of Catoosa, Oklahoma; her sons, Terry Murphy of Gentry, Arkansas, Bill Murphy of Lufkin, Texas, Rick Dillard of Drumright, Oklahoma, and Tom Dillard of Gentry, Arkansas; 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruby Davis; husbands, Joe Murphy, Jack Dillard and Carl Lewis; her brothers Sherman Davis and Kenneth Davis; 2 sisters, Betty Granger and Edith McAlester.
