Gail Louise (Lenox) Ince

October 11, 1925 — March 24, 2023

Pryor

Gail Louise Lenox Ince born in Claremore, Oklahoma on October 11, 1925 to Audie Whisenhunt Lenox and Bert E. Lenox, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023 in Pryor.

Her mother, Audie, was a teacher in the Inola School system and Bert, her father, was a hardware merchant in Inola for 30 years.

Gail grew up in Inola and graduated with the Inola High School class of 1943. Gail attended college at the University of Arkansas and later moved back to the area. It was during World War II that Gail was employed at the Douglas Aircraft plant in Tulsa, working as a clerk in the Payroll Department.

Gail met her future husband Granville at the Skating Rink in Pryor, dated for a year and married in 1947. Before this time, Granville was serving his country in the Army overseas and then called back to service during the Korean conflict. After serving his country he was employed with John Deere Chemical Company for about 30 years.

They enjoyed 37 years of marriage, living in Pryor the entire time, raising their two children on North Hogan Street in a home they bought on the GI Bill. Lots of happy memories in that neighborhood where close lasting friendships were made.

Gail leaves a legacy of faith and love. Her devotion to her family, ensuring her children were raised in church and had a saving knowledge of Jesus was the most important thing to her. She became a Christian at age 16.

Gail has been an active member at First Baptist Church Pryor since July 1952 (70+ years)

Gail learned to play piano at an early age and she shared her talent of music at her local church as well as many small churches when she was needed. She loved the old hymns and played for her Sunday School department and also volunteered for many years in FBC children’s Sunday school classes.

Gail and her sister, Lucy Lee Louderback were very close and shared the same birth date, two years apart.

Gail loved to travel and enjoyed group bus trips with friends all over the U.S. after she was widowed in 1984. Gail was an avid reader and loved history, she was a member of the Mayes County Historical Society. She enjoyed playing dominoes with friends and occasional lunches with her “lunch bunch” friends.

Survivors include her two children, Terri Ince Ross and husband Daniel Ross of Pryor; Granville Stephen Ince and wife Wanda Dunavant Ince of Pryor; three grandchildren, April Conaghan and husband Raymond of Broken Arrow, Megan Sutton and husband Ryan of Edmond, and Tyler Ince and wife Lindsey of Broken Arrow; 8 great grandchildren, Madison and Chloe Conaghan; Everly and Ivy Sutton; and Graham, Sage, Hollyn, and Hazel Ince; one cousin, Sharon Smith of Oologah; niece, Nancy Louderback Seifert of Ohio; nephew, Christopher Louderback of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 37 years, Granville, and sister, Lucy Louderback, nephew, David Louderback; as well as many other precious family and friends. Because of her faith in Jesus Christ, her family is comforted that she is in peace in Heaven.
