Geneva “Nean” Marie Chamberlain, 91, of Adair, Oklahoma, passed away on July 1, 2025. She was born August 7, 1933, in Bushyhead, Oklahoma, to Charlie Loyd and Lillie (Philpot) Loyd. Geneva spent much of her life working as a cook in various restaurants, where her warm spirit and work ethic were well known. She loved to crochet, read, and attend gospel singings. Rodeos were a special part of her life — she enjoyed helping with the books and watching her girls compete. On May 4, 1951, she married the love of her life, Donald “Curly” Chamberlain. They shared many happy years together until his passing in 2016. Geneva had a heart for helping others. She was known for caring deeply for anyone in need, always offering a helping hand or a place to stay. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also treasured the time spent with her sisters. Her love, kindness, and strong sense of family will be remembered by all who knew her.
Geneva is survived by her sons, Clifford Chamberlain and wife Janice of Adair, Oklahoma and John Chamberlain, Jr. of Peggs, Oklahoma; daughters, Patty Wilkins of Strang, Oklahoma, Donna Cope and husband James of Pryor, Oklahoma, and Lily Davis and husband Doug of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; sisters, Trigger Meeks of Chouteau, Oklahoma, Susie Waldeck – Jeffery of Pryor, Oklahoma, and Judy Moore – Jones of Pryor, Oklahoma; 22 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Lillie Loyd; husband, Donald “Curly” Chamberlain; daughters, Bonnie Smith, Jessie Pegouskie, and Sherry Black; son, Chucky Chamberlain; grandsons, Joseph Chamberlain and Christopher Lewallen; granddaughter, Christy Hurley; great grandchildren, Kyana and Ben Wilkins, Stephen Chamberlain and Cadin Cope.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the Pentecostal Church of God in Pryor with Geneva’s nephew, Brother Willard Kiper, officiating. Burial will follow in the Benge Cemetery in Strang with her grandsons, Raymond Wilkins, JB Wilkins, Donavon Cope, Matthew Pegouskie, Alan Davis, Dereck Davis, Daryl Chamberlain, Christopher DeArmond, and Charles DeArmond serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be James Ramey and David Ramey. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2025, at Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor.
