George Clifton Stump, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and community leader, passed away on February 26, 2026, in Pryor, Oklahoma. He was born on November 7, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan, to Clifton and Imogene Stump. He spent his childhood in Chickasha, Oklahoma before moving to Louisville, Kentucky as a teen and spent his last 50 years in Pryor.
Throughout his life, George was known for his steadfast commitment to his family and community. He served honorably in the United States Army, embodying the values of dedication and service that he carried with him throughout his life. He actively engaged in his local community, exemplified by his twelve years of service on the Pryor Public School Board.
Additionally, he found fulfillment in his involvement with the Pryor Fire Department, where he dedicated numerous years before retiring. His passion for youth sports was evident as he served as the president of the Pryor Youth Baseball Organization and held the position of Commissioner for Oklahoma American Legion Baseball.
In his personal life, George was a family man above all. He cherished the time spent with his loved ones, particularly his two sons, Mikkel Stump and his wife Ashley of Pryor, OK, and Zekke Stump and his wife Kayla of Edmond, Ok. He was especially proud of his grandchildren: Jaxtyn, Hinley, Mason, and Cody Stump, who were his pride and joy.
George is also survived by his loving wife, Glenda Stump, with whom he shared his life and built a legacy of love. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Vivian Finnell; sister, Debbie Sheridan and brother-in-law, Dennis Sheridan, Carol and Larry Nash, Melinda and Randy Allen, Leonard and Bunny Finnell, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Imogene and Clifton Stump; father-in-law, Vernon Finnell, and Roy and Vivian Ray, Rhonda Ray Fraley, and Robin Ray Stump.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 2, 2026, in the Westside Free Will Baptist Church with Danny Callison officiating. Interment will follow in the Graham Memorial Cemetery with Drew Stott, Raymond Greninger, Ben Head, BK Young, Mike Kennedy, and James Baumert serving as casket bearers. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Shipman's Funeral Home in Pryor.
