Glen Paul Ackley

February 7, 1959 — March 11, 2024

Adair

Glen Paul Ackley, of Adair, passed away on March 11, 2024, at the age of 65, with his son Dennis at his side. He was born, on February 7, 1959, to Jack and Helen (Giles) Ackley.

Glen was a member of the United Auto Workers Union, where he worked for Gulfstream and Rockwell International. He was proud to paint parts for the B-1B. He earned a certificate in auto body and collision from Northeast Technical Center that gave him the skills to work in the auto industry for many years. Glen was a member and extensively trained in the Sheet Metal Workers Union, where he was able to work on major projects, such as the Devon Energy Center in Oklahoma City.  Born with a passion for tinkering with old cars, Glen's expertise extended far beyond mere mechanical work; he had an extraordinary ability to breathe life back into vehicles others had deemed beyond salvation. Beyond his professional pursuits, Glen was known as a remarkable father who dedicated himself wholeheartedly to providing for his children. His unwavering commitment to ensuring their well-being and happiness was a testament to the depth of his love and the strength of his character.

In his moments of respite, Glen could often be found indulging in his beloved hobbies—be it admiring the timeless beauty of classic automobiles, meandering along scenic drives, or partaking in the tranquil pastime of fishing and camping. His enthusiasm for car shows was infectious, drawing admirers and enthusiasts alike into the vibrant world he inhabited with such fervor. Taking his family to air shows was another way for them to make many lasting memories together.  Additionally, his passion for hunting and marksmanship spoke volumes about his appreciation for the great outdoors.

Glen is survived by his sons, Dennis Ackley of Salina, Dustin Ackley of Salina, Derrick Ackley of Enid, and Richard “Sonny” Leach of Gillette, Wyoming; daughter Bethania “Shelly” Ackley of Pryor; brothers, Roger Ackley and wife Annette of Adair, and Kenny Ackley of Chouteau; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; as well as many extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Helen Ackley; uncles Tom Ackley and Bill Ackley; Grandpa Pete Ackley; maternal grandparents, Jim and Idella Giles.
