Henry Dean Kingfisher, 68, of Salina, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 24, in Tahlequah. He was born on October 1, 1954, in Claremore, to Pete and Sarah (Stealer) Kingfisher. Touching many lives, he was one of a kind. Aside from being stubborn, he had a big heart and would do anything for anyone. He was known as a legendary blues man. When it came to music, he encouraged and inspired numerous people to play. He enjoyed playing the guitar and played in many bands including, the Brown Helmet Band, Slap Band, Nighthawk Band, and Kingfish Band, just to name a few. Among many other wonderful things, Henry was a fluent Cherokee speaker. Some of the things he loved the most were riding his motorcycles, his pickup truck, and his chickens. Most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandkids. He took any opportunity to see and spend time with them. A great dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, he leaves behind an incredible legacy that will never be forgotten. He also leaves behind many memories for all to cherish and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services for Henry will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 3, 2023, at the Salina First Baptist Church with Revered Duke Pickup officiating. Quentin Kirk, Scott Paggot, Duane Bark, Flint Rock, Darrell Rock, Dano O’Connor, and Boyd Bark will serve as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Amy Wood, Jennifer (Sis) Hair, Shawn Payne, Rodney Sutter, Brant Dry, Scot Kingfisher, Jim Cosby, Christian Stone, Austin Kingfisher, Bubba Wolfe, Sonny Cosby, Trenton Studie, and Trestin Chewey. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 2, 2023, in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor. He is survived by his sons, Gregg Kingfisher and Brandy Stone of Pryor, and Amos Kingfisher and wife Courtney of Tulsa; daughters, Mary Chewey of Jay, and Charlotte Kingfisher-Wolfe and Jim Cosby of Welling, Oklahoma; sons, Darrell Rock of Kenwood, and Flint Rock of Little Kansas, OK; sisters, Donna Sapp and husband Johnny of Salina, Roberta Henson of Salina, Peggy Payne and Rodney Sutter of Salina, and Freda Payne and husband Marvin of Salina; 9 grandchildren, Christian, Sydney, Austin, Destinee, Alayna, Bubba Wolfe, Sonny, Trenton, and Trestin; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Sarah Kingfisher; brothers, Joseph Kingfisher, Rev. Larry Kingfisher, Dennis (Hominy) Kingfisher, Gary Kingfisher, and Rodney (Tuffy) Kingfisher; nephews, Eric Kingfisher, Nevin Henson, and Tyson Kingfisher; and nieces, Sonya Kingfisher, Susan Kingfisher, and Kelli Kingfisher.
