James "Brownie" Lee Roy Brown, born on April 2, 1944, in Vinita, Oklahoma, passed away on September 23, 2025. A cherished member of his community, he made notable contributions throughout his life, particularly in the coal mining and stone industries.
His professional journey commenced with the McNabb Coal Company and later continued with Belco in Dewey. His expertise and dedication to his work culminated in a significant role as the Plant Superintendent at Pryor Stone, where he served for 15 years. His commitment to his career was matched only by his commitment to his family and friends.
He is survived by a special friend Rose Davis of the home, his sons, Kelly Brown and wife Krista of Pryor, Oklahoma, and Eddie Brown of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is also fondly remembered by his brother, Ed Brown of Jay, Oklahoma, and his sisters, Wanda Sanders of Vinita, Oklahoma, and Sue Norris and husband Steve of Highland, Texas. He leaves behind a legacy that includes six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Jewell Brown, and his sisters, Patty McMahon and Bonnie Inman. His life was characterized by hard work, resilience, and an unwavering love for his family, which will be celebrated and remembered by all who knew him.
