James Darrell Smith, a devoted family man and talented welder, passed away on September 11, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 64. Born on February 25, 1961, in Clinton, Oklahoma, James dedicated his life to his work and his beloved family, leaving behind a legacy of love and hard work.

James was well-respected in his career as a welder, demonstrating not only his skill but also his unwavering commitment to his craft. His dedication extended far beyond the workplace; he was a pillar of strength and support for his family, embodying the true spirit of a family man. James took immense pride in nurturing relationships with his loved ones, always putting them first and providing guidance and comfort during times of need. In addition to his professional life, James had a passion for the outdoors. He loved spending time hunting and fishing near Bobcat Mountain and Wilburton, Oklahoma. These activities brought him joy and relaxation, moments he cherished with family and friends. James also had an adventurous side, often visiting the Hard Rock Casino to try his luck at the slots, as well as enjoying off-roading and riding his Harley. These hobbies reflected his zest for life and his love of fun and adventure.

He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Smith of the home, and his children: Jeremiah Smith of Chouteau, Oklahoma, Joshua Smith and wife Mechell of Mazie, Oklahoma, Johnnie Smith of Joplin, Missouri, and Sammay Blackwell and husband Landon of Pryor, Oklahoma. James also found great joy in being a grandfather to seven grandchildren and a great-grandfather to three great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother, Joe Long and sister-in-law Taylor, along with several nieces and nephews who will all miss him dearly.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Loren “Dwayne” Smith and Imogene Long, as well as his brothers, Mike Smith and Homer Smith, and his grandparents. Their memories will forever live on as part of his legacy.

James will be remembered fondly for his warmth, kindness, and dedication to family. He leaves behind a profound impact on all who knew him, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
