Jay Dee Young

January 30, 1956 — October 1, 2024

Pryor

Jay Dee Young, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, in Pryor, Oklahoma, at the age of 68. Born on January 30, 1956, in Joplin, Missouri, Jay embodied kindness and generosity, touching the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jay was outgoing and friendly, never meeting a stranger. His infectious smile and great sense of humor were hallmarks of his character. Those who spent time with him could always count on a good laugh, as he had an extraordinary ability to uplift spirits.

Throughout his life, Jay showed a profound love for his family. He cherished the moments spent with his wife, Dawna Young; his son, Bruce Cline; and his daughter, Ashley Culver, who, along with her husband Clint, reside in Chelsea, Oklahoma. Jay maintained close ties with his siblings, including his brothers, Bret Young from Claremore, Oklahoma, and Alan Young, and his sister, Sue Gull of Nowata, Oklahoma. He took immense pride in his grandchildren: Clay and Kyle Culver, Crystal Hagerman, Brody Pempsell, and Tyler Cline, alongside his one great-grandchild, Liam Hagerman. Their accomplishments were a source of great joy for him, particularly as he enjoyed watching them play sports.

Jay's interests were varied, encompassing a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures of life. He had a penchant for raising chickens and pigs, and he dedicated much of his time to building steel pipe fences with Ashley by his side. He relished the opportunity to dine out and engage in conversation with friends and family.

His contributions extended beyond his immediate family. Jay was very active in his church, where he expressed his love for the Lord through service. He operated the church's sound system and readily offered his assistance wherever needed, exemplifying the values of faith and community.

Jay is preceded in death by his parents, Amandus Jay Young and Norma Lou Young, as well as his nephew, Dalton Gull. His legacy will undoubtedly live on through the love and laughter he shared with those around him.
