Jerry Gene Bridges, 76, of Tulsa, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 in Tulsa. He was born on May 4, 1944 in Claremore, Oklahoma; the son of Plese and Stella (Lee) Bridges. Jerry grew up in Tulsa and attended Tulsa Public Schools. He believed in prayer and loved God. He was a salesman his whole life. Jerry had an outgoing personality. He loved to be around people and tell jokes. So many memories of him. Especially, telling stories about the book he was writing about his life. Jerry loved to celebrate life and spend time with his family and friends. He especially loved playing pool and played in many tournaments and pool leagues throughout his life. Jerry also enjoyed spending time driving around buying, collecting and selling anything of value, playing poker and gambling. He was a talented athlete and gifted baseball pitcher. Jerry was always upbeat. His words of wisdom "Never Give Up On Yourself!" Special thank you to Dylan Evans for being a great kid to Jerry and bringing happiness to our Dad. You were the reason he kept going. Thank you to Jerry Waters for taking care of our Dad and helping our family and David Roper for being Jerry's best friend for over 70 years. Thank you to all his friends and family for your thoughts and prayers.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 20, 2020 in the Chouteau West Cemetery with Reverend Ken Gerhart officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 19, 2020 at Shipman’s Funeral Home. Jerry is survived by his sons, Jerry Don Bridges of Tulsa, Oklahoma and James Bridges and wife Mindy of Chouteau, Oklahoma; sister, Mildred Stanley of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Plese and Stella Bridges; son, Shane Bridges; and Brothers, Johnny Bridges and Plese Bridges Jr.
