Jerry Shearer, 82, of Chouteau, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020 in Claremore, Oklahoma. He was born on July 7, 1937 in Pryor, Oklahoma; the son of William Clyde and Mamie Ethelene (Mustain) Shearer. Jerry owned the Dairy Queen in Pryor from 1971 until 1986 and enjoyed working in the community. He also was a regional director of U.S. Beef and coached little league in Pryor for many years. Jerry enjoyed going to the Hard Rock Casino in Catoosa and spending time outdoors; especially when he was able to go fishing, bird hunting. Jerry was also an avid reader and enjoyed mystery books and books about the different wars throughout history. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God for the last 6 years. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 16, 2020 in the Pentecostal Church of God with Pastor Trae Mullin officiating. Jerry is survived by his wife, Margaret Shearer of Chouteau, Oklahoma; daughter, Tamali Shearer of Tennessee; granddaughters, Leslie and Christie both of Tennessee; great grandchildren, Noah, Abram, and Liam all of Tennessee; daughter, Cynthia Skinner and husband Rick of Chouteau, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Mariah and Tyler of Chouteau, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Riley and Tucker both of Chouteau, Oklahoma; son, Robert Shearer and family all of California. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Ethelene Shearer; daughter, Christy Shearer; brothers, Jackie and William Clyde Shearer, Jr.; and sisters, Betty Stone and Shirley Marquette.
