JoAnn Muriel Talbot Douglas went to be home with the Lord on April 4th, 2026, in Pryor Oklahoma surrounded by her loving family.
JoAnn was born July 17, 1945, in McAlister Oklahoma to Cornelius William Talbot and Catherine Muriel Talbot. In 1963 she married the love of her life, Richard CB Douglas. Her children are Lorri Annette (Douglas) Couch and R.L. and Philip Brian Douglas and Alethea.
JoAnn graduated from Nathan Hale HS with honors, RSU with an AAS in Environmental science and NSU with a BS in Environmental Management Alpha Chi in 1993. She was member of the National College Honor Scholarship Society. JoAnn loved knowledge, reading and learning new things. Her passions were her Faith, Family and Friends.
JoAnn wore many hats in her life. She was a Sunday school teacher, substitute teacher for Osage schools, Cosmetologist and then went on to work for Allied Signal.
In her 20-year career with Allied Signal/General Motors she worked as Lab manager and moved up to Plant Manager. She served as the plant manager for Catalizadores Ambientales in San Luis Potosi, Mexico and later as plant manager at the Port of Catoosa for General Motors.
JoAnn and her husband moved to a farm northwest of Pryor in 1971 and loved the country life. Their children graduated from Osage and Pryor schools. JoAnn loved reading and enjoyed spending time with her book club Cover to Cover Giris of 25 years. JoAnn also loved quilting and was a member of the quilt guilds of Pryor and Claremore.
After JoAnn retired in 2000, she joined the Red Cross to help with Hurricane Katrina. She also helped with the flood of Miami Ok and later the ice storm in Rogers and Mayes County.
JoAnn traveled with her church in Claremore to help the Salvation Army in their NYC warehouse after the twin towers collapsed on 9-11. She gave up her volunteer work in 2007 to care for her husband after he contracted cancer.
JoAnn loved quilting and fostering the tradition so her, her daughter and son-in-law opened and owned a quilt shop in Pryor named Capstone Creations for 10 years until Covid forced them to close. The shop was a wonderful place for quilters to gather and advance their craft.
JoAnn attended Northstar Church in Pryor. For many years she was a member of Lifechanger Church and Pleasant View Baptist Church. JoAnn received Jesus as her savior in 1964 at Rolling Hills Baptist church. She was baptized there and again later in the Jordan River in Israel.
In her career JoAnn loved to travel across the U.S. and abroad for business or pleasure making wonderful friends. Now her journey takes her to heaven where she hopes to see everyone there someday.
JoAnn was proceeded in death by her husband Richard CB, her parents, Cornelius and Catherine, her daughter Lorr, her son in law R.L. and her sister Pamela Smith, also maternal grandparents Aaron and Ruth Chitwood, and paternal grandparents Lofton and Emma Talbot.
JoAnn is survived by her 3 brothers: CW Talbot Jr. and Jan of Stilwell, OK, Robert Talbot and Tyrena of Houston, TX, Chris Talbot and Kim of Moorpark, CA, son Philip Douglas and Alethea of Pryor, OK, granddaughter Ashley Couch of Pryor OK, great grandson Levi Baker, Uncle Robert "Foye" Talbot of West Covina, CA, sister in law Regina Jackson of Locust Grove, OK, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
