July 31, 1961 – May 12, 2025
Joyce Ann Hansen, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and lifelong caregiver, passed away unexpectedly on May 12, 2025, at the age of 63. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, faith, and selfless love that touched all who knew her. Born on July 31, 1961, Joyce was raised in Salina, Oklahoma, and graduated from Salina High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Tulsa University. She dedicated her professional life to the service of others, retiring from Claremore Indian Hospital after a meaningful and impactful career. Joyce was known for her gentle care, deep empathy, and unwavering strength. On October 16, 1999, Joyce married the love of her life, Woody Hansen. Together, they built a life grounded in love, faith, and family. As the proud wife of a preacher, Joyce faithfully supported her husband’s ministry and walked beside him as a partner in both life and service. Joyce was an active and beloved member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Claremore, Oklahoma, where she served as the song leader. Her voice and joyful spirit lifted others in worship, and her faith shone brightly in everything she did. She also volunteered for many years at Indian Falls Creek, a place especially dear to her heart. She and Woody traveled many miles over the years—to visit and support family, do missionary work, and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation together. These journeys were filled with purpose, love, and adventure, and they left behind treasured memories for all who were part of them.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Willis “Louie” Mouse and Emma Ballou Mouse; her older sister, Diana Mouse-Buiting; her daughter, Jenny Dawn Mouse and niece, Julie Marie Mouse. She is survived by her husband, Woody Hansen of Jay, Oklahoma; two sons, Michael Wehbe of Austin, Texas, and Jacob Hansen and wife Chelsea of Colcord, Oklahoma; and four daughters, Kelsie Kotzur and husband Cody of Fockenberg-Limbach, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany; Jade Vann and husband Justin of Salina, Oklahoma; Makenzie Hansen of Chuckey, Tennessee; and Lani Hansen of Salina, Oklahoma. Joyce is also survived by three brothers: Jefferson Mouse and wife Cheryl of Salina, Oklahoma; John Wayne Mouse and wife Debbie of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; and James Edward Mouse and wife Felicia of Salina, Oklahoma. She is lovingly remembered by her loving grandchildren—Bentley, Noah, Mateo, Zayne, Kade, Tate, Abram, Malikai, Rion, Isaiah, Lizzie, Creek, and Elianna—as well bonus Grandson Benson, of Kenya, Africa., Millie and Grayson’ Sonny boy’ Killsknight-as well many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Joyce found her greatest joy in her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events and life milestones. She and Woody enjoyed going on “snake hunts” together and treasured every moment shared with loved ones. Her nurturing spirit was most evident in the kitchen, where her legendary fry bread and heartfelt meals brought everyone together. She especially cherished cooking for her family at the creek and playing Aggravation with Uncle Al and the rest of the clan. Though her passing was unexpected, Joyce Ann Hansen lived a life defined by love, service, and deep faith. Her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms… I am going there to prepare a place for you.” —John 14:1–2
Let us not mourn as those without hope, but rejoice in knowing Joyce is home—and honor God’s perfect plan.
