Lowell "Jake" L. Wiseman

February 23, 1924 — September 19, 2024

Pryor

After high school, Jake left the farm and volunteered for the Army in 1942. He graduated from pilot training on June 27, 1944, and separated from the Army Air Corps at the end of World War II in October 1945. Jake then attended the University of Illinois, earning a bachelor’s degree in 1948 and a master’s degree in 1950. Not long after, due to the Korean conflict, he was recalled into the Air Force in June 1950, retiring as a Lt. Colonel in November 1969, after serving in California, LA, TX, Kansas, Japan, Oklahoma, Korea, and Massachusetts – flying jets and protecting our borders.

Jake married Margie Bell on January 30, 1945, and they moved to Oklahoma in 1972 and lived near Murphy on Jake’s “rock farm.” They relocated to Pryor in 2010. He was proud that they celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in January 2020. Jake officiated as Grand Marshal of the Veterans Day Parade in Pryor on November 11, 2021. Jake and Margie were members and enjoyed many evenings at the Pryor Elks Lodge and the American Legion. They were members in the Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his sons, Jeffrey Wiseman of Locust Grove, OK, and Rodney Wiseman and wife Laura of Lake Jackson, TX, and one daughter, Lynn Gustison and Steve of Georgetown, TX, four grandsons, Steven and wife Jessica, Brian and wife Heather, Cole and wife Dayna, and Jamar and wife Jennifer, and 9 great grandchildren.
