Lyle Gordon Hughes, 81, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on September 25, 1944, in Milford, Nebraska, to Clifford and Nellie Hughes.

Lyle was a proud United States Marine, and his service to his country remained an important part of who he was throughout his life. He was also a member of the DAV chapter in Pryor, Oklahoma, where he shared a special connection with fellow veterans. Lyle enjoyed living life to the fullest and making memories along the way. He loved fishing and hunting, traveling, and spending quality time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed trips to the Salina Highbanks Speedway dirt track, where he could take in the excitement of the races. Traveling was another great joy in Lyle's life, and he always seemed to have a story to tell about the places he had been and the experiences he had along the way.

Those who knew Lyle will remember his wonderful sense of humor and the way he loved to joke with others. He had a kind heart and a gift for bringing a smile to the faces of the people he met. Whether he was sharing one of his travel stories, telling a joke, or simply enjoying time with those around him, Lyle had a way of making moments memorable. His friendship, laughter, and caring nature will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Lyle is survived by his son, Brian Hughes of Nebraska; daughter, Samantha Hughes of Texas; brother, Ronald Hughes and wife Sherry of Nebraska; honorary grandchildren, Michelle Hicks and Kyle Bookout, Kieara Stallings and Logan Baucom, Braidyn and Aaron Dunham and honorary great great-grandsons Zyaire and Slayton of Tulsa, Oklahoma; along with many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Nellie Hughes; his son, Jeffery Hughes; and his aunt, Blanch.

Lyle leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, friendships, and cherished memories. The smiles he brought to others and the kindness he showed throughout his life will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
