Marilee Sarah Bearden, a beloved matriarch and cornerstone of her family, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 84. Born on February 11, 1941, in Montclair, New Jersey, Marilee's warmth and generosity left an indelible mark on the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Marilee was renowned for her open heart and unconditional acceptance of others. She was a nurturing presence to many, ensuring that no one ever faced hardship alone. Her home was a sanctuary where friends and family could gather; she always had a full kitchen, with food on the stove and baked goods like cookies, brownies, and pies ready for any occasion. In many ways, her home was a haven to countless rescues, both human and canine alike, and boy, did Marilee love her dogs! She would take dogs in who in many ways were street dogs, maybe abused, abandoned and she would nurse and care for these dogs back to full strength and many would learn what love and trust is again. Marilee’s love extended to crafting warm, handmade blankets, which were cherished by her loved ones. Her passion for life also included fun games of bingo, where her laughter and good humor created joyous memories.

She is survived by her children, Michael Bearden, David Bearden II, and Jeanette Bearden, who carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. Additionally, she is survived by eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, each of whom were recipients of her unwavering affection and support. It would be remiss not to honor her cherished dogs, Sooner, Fat Boy, Sugar, Merlin, Dallas, and Bo, who brought her endless joy.

Marilee's life was also shaped by the love and memories shared with those who have preceded her in death, including her devoted husband, David Bearden; her parents, Walter and Marie Burgess; her sister, Marilou Young; her nephew, Jeff Bearden, and the countless dogs who brought her so much love Molly Brown, Sunshine, Mudslide, Eddie, Lucy, Chachi, Cinnamon, Holly, the list goes on. Her family will forever hold dear the lessons of love, generosity, and acceptance she imparted throughout her life.

Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Spavinaw-Strang Cemetery. To leave a message, please visit her guestbook at www.shipmansfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Shipman's Funeral & Cremation Service of Pryor.
