Mark Edwin Stealer, born on February 26, 1957, in Claremore, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at his home in Salina, Oklahoma, at the age of 67. Known fondly as Louie, he lived a life full of love, humor, and connection to his family, leaving behind cherished memories that will be deeply missed. Louie enjoyed a variety of interests that enriched his life and those around him. He had a profound love for music, often found listening to his favorite tunes or watching westerns on tv. His creative spirit shone through in his passion for sculpting, where he was able to express himself artistically. Louie treasured spending time with his family, engaging wholeheartedly in conversations with fellow Cherokee speakers, and taking joy in spoiling his beloved grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Mark Stealer and Robert Stealer, both of Tulsa, OK; daughters, Amy Tipton of Salina, OK, and Misha Tipton of Locust Grove, OK; brother, Virgil Stealer and wife Teresa of Salina, OK; sisters, Diane Backward of Enid, OK, and Cheryl Backward of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Albert and Anthony Easter; and numerous nieces and nephews. Louie is preceded in death by his wife, Carol Stealer; parents, Mose Stealer and Eunice (Cochran) Backward; and brother, Terry Stealer.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Salina All Nations Church with Reverend Buddy Ross officiating. Burial will follow at Grass Cemetery with Amy Wood, Casey Payne, Josh Arneecher, Ron Blevins, Spencer Kingfisher, and Brandt Beaver serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Randy Ross and Chad Chambers. A wake will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor.
