Marlene (Jackson) Harvey, 60, of Spavinaw, Oklahoma went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 6, 2024, in Vinita, Oklahoma. She was born February 27, 1964, in Claremore, Oklahoma to Omer and Sarah (Allen) Jackson. Marlene’s life was centered around family and faith, and she will be remembered for her kindness and hospitality.
Marlene was raised in Spavinaw and enjoyed playing basketball and softball for the Spavinaw Braves. She attended Spavinaw Elementary School and graduated from Ketchum High School in 1982. Marlene attended various churches over the years and enjoyed attending gospel singings and revivals. Of all her hobbies, spending time with family and friends was the dearest to her. She loved her kids and grandkids, and her doors were always open to family and friends for visits and sleepovers. Marlene had a way of making children feel special and loved.
Marlene was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Aaron and Lucy (Tagg) Allen; parents Omer and Sarah (Allen) Jackson, aunts Joan Allen, Barbara Allen, and Ella (Allen) Smith; uncles Aaron (Jr) Allen and Jess Allen, daughter Samantha Curtis, and brother Robert Jackson.
Marlene is survived by her son Chris and wife Shaina Harvey of Pryor, Ok, son Brandon (Boo) Curtis of Spavinaw, sisters Dora West, Darla Brandon, Sally Allen, and Melvina Jackson, all of Spavinaw, Ok. Sisters Joyce Garrett and Jackie Jackson of Pryor Ok; Grandchildren, Conner, Gracian, Emery, and London; many nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins from Spavinaw and surrounding areas.
A wake service and visitation will be held at Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor, Oklahoma, Sunday, April 14, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Spavinaw Hills House of Worship, Monday, April 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastors Harley Sarten and Jefferson West officiating. Burial will follow at the Jack Ribbon Indian Cemetery, in Spavinaw, OK with Christopher Harvey, Damon Smith, Brandon Atkins, Jacob Quick, Richard Quick, Earl McCurdy, and Jimmy Dillon serving as casket bearers. Brandon Curtis will serve as honorary casket bearer. Dinner will be served following the burial at the Spavinaw Community Center. The family requests that all who attend the services for Marlene, please wear purple to honor her.
