Mary Fox

Mary Elizabeth (Meeks) Brown Fox, 87, of Pryor, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 in Pryor. She was born on July 5, 1931 in Pryor; the daughter of Oceola Jack and Eliza (Callier) Meeks. Mary married Edward Arthur Brown on October 20, 1951, and after his passing, she met and married Wayne Fox on August 2, 1976 in Pryor. She has lived in the Mayes County area all of her life, working as a housekeeper and cook for Mayes Café most of her life. She also enjoyed playing bingo, going dancing and cooking. She looked forward to family get togethers, swimming at the creek, and going fishing. Mary enjoyed the fourth of July, since her birthday was the 5th, the celebrations made her feel special. Mary was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She leaves behind many wonderful memories for her family to cherish. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 3, 2019 in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jerold Pilant officiating. Burial will follow in the Lone Chapel Cemetery with Dale Alan Hedges, Cody Lee Hedges, Nayesah Linda Rich, Daulton Baucom, Anthony Garner, and Triston Garner serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Bobby Powell and Johnathon Brown. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2019 in the Shipman’s Funeral Home. Mary is survived by her sons, Edward “Eddie” Brown, Curtis Brown, Larry Brown, Michael Fox; daughters, Deloris Brown, Grace Harris, and Dalina Fox; and 17 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Oceola and Eliza Meeks; husbands, Edward Arthur Brown and Wayne Eldon Fox; sons, Paul Brown, Alan Brown, and Frank Brown; brothers, Flavis Meeks and OJ Meeks; sisters, Elvira Stites, Bettina Meeks Raleigh and Arvella Willis.
