Mary Laura Hughes Poe, 63, of Pryor, was born to Charles Victor and Alta Mae (Hyde) Hughes on May 19, 1946 in Antlers, Oklahoma. She grew up and attended Chouteau schools and graduated from Northeastern State University, where she met her husband John. John and Laura united in marriage May 25, 1968. They were married for 41 years and raised 2 children and 1 grandchild. She was a legal secretary for Whiteé��â‚â„�s Survey when she retired. In her free time she enjoyed spending time with family, to camp, to read and play bingo. Mary Laura was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, daughter and a very special Grammie. She touched the lives of all those who knew her and will be dearly missed. Mary Laura departed this world on December 14, 2009. She was preceded in death by her loving parents and one sister, Martha Hughes. Her memory is kept alive by her devoted husband John; her children, one daughter Natalea and husband Mike Christie and one son James Poe and one granddaughter Ashley Poe; five siblings and their spouses: Leon and Patty Hughes, Jim and Treva Hughes, Ethma and Larry Suggs, Sam and Virginia Hughes and Terry and Rose Hughes; many nieces and nephews and their children and many lifelong friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 2:00 pm in the Shipmané��â‚â„�s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Graham Memorial Chapel with Walter Still officiating. Casketbearers will be members of the Pryor Creek Masonic Lodge # 100. Mary Lauraé��â‚â„�s family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 pm.
