Marylyn Sue Stokes

August 5, 1943 — March 14, 2023

Salina

Marylyn Sue Stokes, 79, of Salina, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 14, in Tulsa. She was born in Salina, on August 5, 1943, to Bill and Alice (Carter) Scott. On March 21, 1961, she married the love of her life, Lee Stokes, in Grove, Oklahoma and they spent many wonderful years together until his passing. Dedicating her time, she spent 51 years serving as the secretary for Salina schools and the Salina Church of God. She loved her cattle and land, and going on driving adventures when she had the chance to see the world with her family.  Marylyn could often be found enjoying her soap operas or a good western. Once a week, you could find her getting her hair done.  She was the matriarch of her family and her world revolved around all of them. You could always count on her to show up when it came to any game or event. She leaves behind a wonderful legacy and many memories for all to cherish. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services for Marylyn will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 20, 2023, at the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Nathan Teed officiating. Burial will follow in the Ross-Mayes Cemetery with Christopher Burgess, Robert Ramirez, Brandon White, Colton Bradshaw, Chase Parker, and Derek Kingfisher serving as casket bearers. Forrest Stokes will serve as an honorary casket bearer. A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m, Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Shipman's Funeral Home.
