Myrtle Mildred (Hamill) Hunter, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2012 in Pryor, Oklahoma. She was born in Adair, Oklahoma on December 2, the daughter of Theodore Hamill and Frieda (Schickadanz) Hamill. Myrtle was raised one of 7 children. She and her husband, Hal moved their family to Pryor from their Adair farm in 1955. Myrtle operated Hunter's Beauty Shop on North Elliott St. for 40 years before moving to her location on Vann St. for another 15 years. She was very active in her community, being a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, Writer's Club, a lifetime member of the Rebekah Lodge #61 joining on August 29, 1963, the Historical Society, the Arts and Humanities. Myrtle was a member of the First United Methodist Church and loved her Challenger Sunday School Class. Myrtle had a passion for reading books and writing poetry. Myrtle was a integral part of Pryor and was dearly loved by all who knew her. Myrtle's positive spirit will be missed. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 10 a.m. in the Shipman's Funeral Chapel with Reverend Larry Hunter officiating. Interment will be in the Adair Cemetery with Roy Hamill, John Cartwright, Ron Dryden, Luca Palmieri and John Mixon serving as casket bearers. Myrtle is survived by her daughters, Frieda Hunter Palmieri of Rome, Italy; Judith Ann Hunter Mixon and husband, John of Houston, TX; her brother, Russell and wife, Betty Hamill of Adair, OK; her sister, Bessie Kinion of Adair, OK; her grandchildren, Luca Palmieri, Marco Palmieri, Millicent and husband, Edward Robertson; her great grandchildren, George and Henry Robertson; many other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hal Hunter in 1993; her parents, Theodore and Frieda Hamill; and four siblings.
