Listen to Obituary

Nancy Lou Reed died peacefully on Monday, January 12, 2026, at the age of 80 after living a life full of love, humor, compassion and generosity. Nancy was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona and maintained her love for the desert, mountains and majestic saguaros throughout her life. She spent her career working as an indispensable assistant and highly competent secretary, eventually retiring from Oklahoma State University’s Cooperative Extension Service where she worked from 1994 until 2007. Nancy’s faith was deeply important to her, and she continued to volunteer and contribute her organizational talents to her church during her retirement.

Nancy’s family and friends will always remember and honor how much she loved crafting, quilting, laughing, attending car and motorcycle shows, attending Renaissance festivals, enjoying her favorite movies with her girls (Ever After and The Sound of Music), and eating Oreos and chocolate ice cream (or ANYTHING chocolate). We’ll remember her love for angels, painted ponies, southwestern art (especially Ted DeGrazia and Bill Rabbit), carousel horses, a variety of collectible figurines, nativity sets, and did we mention Oreos?

Nancy is survived by her husband Carl Reed (Pryor, OK); daughters Tara Reed (Pryor, OK) and Krista Dann (Tucson, AZ); son-in-law Christopher Dann (Tucson, AZ); granddaughters Basia Dann (Colorado Springs, CO) and Katarina Dann (Boulder, CO) and so many extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents John L. Bruegger (1905 - 1982) and Luella M. Bruegger (1917 - 1991) and her beloved brother Roland A. Bruegger (1937 - 2004).

Nancy’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at Southside Christian Church at 2106 S. Elliott, Pryor, OK. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend.

Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

Nancy was a special human being who touched the lives of many and will be missed deeply.
